Former First Lieutenant Represents Lakes and the Marine Corps in Major Relief Effort

Jonathan Oakley, MSgt., MCJROTC Instructor

August 14, 2021 was a brutal day for the nation of Haiti when a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck on the Tiburon Peninsula.  On August 17, Marines from the Second Combat Engineer Battalion were deployed for Humanitarian Relief for that earthquake.  Among those that deployed was Lance Corporal Tony Coleman, former First Lieutenant in our MCJROTC who graduated with the Class of 2020.  For one month, the Marines were deployed aboard the USS Arlington.  They were there to assist in the distribution of supplies and the processing of casualties.  They were also instrumental in securing transportation routes in the region as many of the supply trucks were being raided before they could reach the hardest hit areas.  Once again, Marines were instrumental in this nation’s effort to assist our neighbors as they go through this difficult time. The MCJROTC at PBL is pleased to have a hand in this worthwhile humanitarian effort through the participation of one of its own–Lance Corporal Tony Coleman. Nice job!
